An Assassins Tale: A great task
Kalin Velothi, An assassin from the Dark Brother Hood and a Dark Elf is faced with the hardest task ever, he is told something that will change the history forever

Chapter One: The begging of things:
I sat waiting for Eno to turn up, he was once the grandmaster of the Morag Tong but the Dark Brother Hood wanted otherwise. I sit on my bed, looking around my house; I am pleased with it as I had it furnished by the best carpenter in all of Ebonheart. It does nicely for an assassin like me.

I decided that the I should go look for Eno as he doesn’t seem like he is going to show up in the end, I pull myself of my bed and walk over to my weapon cabinet parallel to my bed. My hands touch the cold metal handles as I pull the glass door open “Hmm which weapon” I decided that my Jinkblade would prove more useful to me in open situations with guards as it has the ability to cast the burden of paralysis on my victim. I take the small dagger and close the cabinet; the cold metal once again meets with my attention as my eyes draw to the handle.

I continue to the lower story of my house were I dine and prepare meals, as I reach the front door I push it open, I seem to be shortly blinded by the light as always. When my vision is regained (which only takes a matter of seconds) the first major thing my eyes come across was a tall imperial man wearing the armour of the Imperial Templar, he had his sword to the throat of a Dunmer man dressed in crimson red robes, there was a large crowd gathered around the two and before I know it I realize that the Dunmer was Eno and he was being threatened by that Imperial. I run over to Eno and ask what was going on, only to receive a push from the Imperial. “Watch your step” I snarl to the Imperial. Eno gives me a smirk as he signals me to sort him out.

I reach for my blade from my side pocket and I feel its handle in the clutches of my hand. “Admit it Dunmer, you are part of the Dark Brother Hood” Yelled the Imperial. “Try checking oblivion you’ll definitely find them there, but I advise you not to as your type is welcomed by a blade to the throat” Snarled Eno. The imperial thrusts his blade harder against Eno’s neck causing beads of blood to appear on his throat. “Are you willing to die making smart remarks?” Sneered the Imperial as he smirked.

At this moment I am standing in watching one of my closest friends being threatened at the point of a blade and now I know my decision must be made, and quickly I must add. I pull my dagger so it is at the point were I could immediately thrust it into an attacker at will and with ease. “Would you like me to ask you again” Growled the Imperial, his smirk now turning into a look of great anger and rage. The crowd looked as if they wanted the guard to get what’s coming for him, “I would repeat my answer but I do not dare waste my breath on people with the likes of you” Snapped Eno. “That’s it, lets see if your blade is as sharp as your tongue” Yelled the Imperial.

“Settle down” Growled Eno as his face begun to turn into a scared expression. Now it was my time if any time was this was it, I must save Eno somehow. I couldn’t kill the Imperial because he could hear the footsteps of Guards approaching “The Guards are coming drop your blade” I snap. The Imperial smirks and as things do that smirk makes my stomach wrench horribly. The crowd was only about four commoners; one Redguard male stood watching with glee as Eno’s life was being threatened. The others in the crowd were just bystanders but that Redguard wanted Eno to die.

“JUNOS” Screamed a Guard who had just seemed to appear from a corner along with four more. The imperial man seemed to react and lower his sword from Eno’s neck, what a relief. “This Dunmer is part of the Dark Brother Hood” Growled the Imperial. “No…” Yelled Eno but he was cut of by the Guard “Well then, we will take him to prison immediately” Smirked one of the Guards. Junos smirked as he grabbed Eno and pushed him into the crowd of Guards. This was just great; I could probably make an attempt to rescue him now, but ill end up dead. “The high fane, that’s were well put ya” Laughed Junos. These foolish men, I will have their throats slit for this. I look ask they abuse Eno by hitting him and he just stares at me. It’s now or never, I must rescue Eno. But it is to late now they already have taken him down to the docks. I decide to go back inside my house, it was getting dark anyway.

I go inside but I do not bother to notice my house and put my dagger in my pocket I just drag myself into bed.

I open my eyes and look around, my blinds haven’t been pulled shut and the darkness is still here, I get and look outside. The view isn’t very good as it was dark and nobody was outside. Then I remember Eno, I know that he is in Vivec and I must rescue him but it won’t be easy because all of the Ordinators in Vivec hate me after I assassinated the officer of the watch in broad daylight. So there I have it, I go over to my weapon cabinet, I grip the handle tightly and open the cabinet. I grab my bow, and a quiver full of arrows. I already have my dagger still in my pocket from earlier. Then I go over to my armour cabinet, left of the staircase leading downstairs, I grab my robe with a hood on it, I would not even class it as armour but its light and easy to sneak unseen with it on, I pull the robe over my head and pull the hood over. I then place my quiver and bow on my back. I am ready to go now, but before I go I take my Deadric broadsword in case I need it.

Chapter Two: Vivec

I leave my house in darkness and I once again find myself in the dark, I run unseen past a few guards until I come to Junos standing alone near the Dragon statue. I am filled with rage as he breaths deeply, it may be unknown to him but soon enough I shall stop his breathing. I my blade is already clutched in my hand, I draw it up behind him making sure I am extra quiet, I plunge my blade into his back and slip around slitting his throat in the same smooth motion. He collapses on the ground with one thud, my daggers paralysis did not work, and it must be out of charge no need though Junos was finished. I shall leave Junos dead on the ground to teach the Guards a lesson.

I then run unseen left, up three stairs and across a bride leading to the mainland. I enjoy my job greatly. I run through the long grass, taking strides. I decided to stick to the path though as it is easier to remember where I am.

I finally reach Vivec’s foreign quarter’s entry bridge, but the sun is already rising slowly. Well now I was standing on the bridge that would take me off the mainland and onto Vivec, but offcourse I better watch out for the Ordinators. I slip over that bridge and I didn’t notice it before but there was an Ordinator patrolling the lower level of Vivec. He had turned the corner but he might pop out on me later on. There was a gondolier that was just over to my left so I decided to use him as transport to the temple. I just walked over on the slate floor making no noise, as I reached the gondolier, he had not noticed me and I thought if the Ordinators ask him if they have seen me they might catch me, so I decided he would be better of dead. Since he was standing close to the edge of the platform and it had a ledge small enough for him to fall over I pulled out my blade and silently plunged my blade into his back, he turned to look at me and his eyes seemed to be filled with pain and sadness as a single tear ran down his face. He gasped as I pushed him over the ledge and all I heard was a splash and water sprayed over my face. “One more dead” I climb down the ladder that took me into his boat. I paddled and paddled for what seemed like for ever as I carried on the same motion to move the stupid boat. It was just about daytime, id say about six now.

I reached another boat in the temple canton and this was it, I hopped over from my boat onto the small platform the boat was roped to. I snuck up the stairs cloaking myself in the darkness that was left; I smoothly glided past the gondolier I saw the High fane above me. I need to cast a spell to levitate me up their but it will be hard, the Ordinators were not patrolling the side with the gondolier but I heard them approaching. I concentrated hard and I tried to cast the levitation spell, as I did so my body began to feel light, finally I had conjured a levitation spell to aid me in this rescue. Sadly though I seem to have caught the eye of an Ordinator, he grunted as he drew a mace. I jump in the air and instead of falling I stay were I jumped “Grr” Growled the Ordinator as he approached, I continued to step into thin air but it seemed as if I was using invisible stairs to climb up to the High Fane. Soon when I looked below everything seemed as insignificant as the temple canton just continued to shrink in size as I rose into the sky, I could still make out the Ordinator and it looked like he brought company. Well at least I’m out of reach from them, I turn around to notice the wooden platform attached to the High Fane which was floating high above Vivec. I walk over to the platform and climb over the rails and the spell seemed to ware of because I fell over the rails onto a wooden platform. I pull myself up and look around. The High Fane entrance was in front of me, a wooden door was placed in the rocky outside of the High fane. I push the door open to reveal a dimly lit, rocky interior.

I heard some footsteps echoing through the chamber so I enter and quietly close the door behind me. The wind echoes throughout the chamber which I find quite relaxing but I should really get my mind back to the task. “Hmmph, what is it” I hear a voice coming from a door just next to me, “Chief, the newest prisoner has arrived last night, he is in here for connections with the Dark Brotherhood” “I see, well he is locked up this room” Well then I now know were he is but the Chief Ordinator is guarding him and somebody else. I decided that I must kill them both and make it quick. I walk over to the door and clutch the handle. I have my dagger in the other hand and I push the door open, inside there is two Ordinators both with there weapons in their hands. “You are not allowed here” Growled the Ordinators, “You have angered me by arresting Eno, now your lives end” I growl as I leap at one of the Ordinators plunging my dagger into the unarmoured part of his neck. “Ugh” Moans the Ordinator as he collapses down on the table in the room. “You” Growls the last Ordinator as he slashes me with his sword “Agrhhhh” I scream as I collapse, the blade must have been enchanted with a fire spell because I can feel an excruciating burning sensation through my body, “Now, you must die” I mutter as I get to my feet, “DOWN ON THE GROUND” I yell as push him over. He lunges at me taking another swing with his blade but this time I duck and push him into the bookcase and it falls onto him. I then walk over to a barred door and kick it down, Eno was standing inside but at first he did not recognize me because of my mask “Eno, it’s me” “Kalin thankyou for saving me”. I tell Eno to follow me and before we leave the room I cast a fire spell and light the bookcase that fell on the Ordinator on fire. We then left the room and went outside the High Fane onto the wooden platform; the sun was on the horizon just peeping over though, so we had enough time to sneak in the dark back to my house.

“I’m sorry I have no Divine Intervention scrolls so we shall have to use our slowfall amulets, I have a spare for you” I handed Eno a amulet and he put it on, we both jumped over the rails and down back to Vivec. We both fall slowly down to the floor. I look around at the ornate walls and the statues that were on either side of the raised part of the Temple Canton. There was no Ordinators that I could see which was good, so we carried on to the Gondolier but then out of know where two people jumped down from the raised part of the Temple canton.

“Halt there Dunmer” Growled the figure in golden armour, “You thought you could go kill the Ordinators and the Ordinator Chief” Yelled a figure stepping forward, I could now make out that they were High Ordinators. “Eno, this is not good, are you ready for a fight?” Eno seemed to reply with a grunt as the High Ordinators approached us with there scimitars. I handed Eno my dagger, “You are better with short blades ill use my bound long sword spell if needed” I explained, Eno nodded.

Chapter Three: The fight against High Ordinators

I took my bow of my back and took an arrow from my quiver, it was shining from its enchantment, the High Ordinators approached with there scimitars, “You made a mistake” They said as they approached even closer. I notched an arrow and shot it and it hit the Ordinator but it didn’t do anything. Eno charged and begun combat with one of the Ordinators. I put my bow on the back and ran at the other Ordinator, as I charge I grab my broadsword and take a slash at the Ordinator. He doges the hit, “So, how do you wanna die” I say scornfully, “I’m not planning on dying” Replies the Ordinator as he took a slash at me, I dodged that as well and swung round to hit him with my sword but he ducked, then he took another swing and slashed me across the side. Pain rushed through my body and I couldn’t help collapsing in a spasm of pain. I screamed
in agony, then I saw the Ordinator ready to finish me off, I then remembered a spell I had once made, it was called Deaths touch and it had saved me many times so I concentrated and then cast the spell, a bolt was emitted and it hit the Ordinator sending him flying back and hitting the wall with a crunch. I turned to look for Eno, he was still fighting the Ordinator, Eno was brutally stabbed in the chest and he collapsed, I was immediately running over to aid him, I punched the Ordinator in the face, blood leaked from his mask and I punched him again which caused him to fall and hit his head and killing him.

I went over to Eno who was lying on the floor in a puddle of blood “K-k-Kalin help” He moaned, I looked at his wound, a great stab wound on his chest. I placed my hand on his chest and his wound healed up, “Healing spell” I said. Eno got up and looked fine.

Chapter Four: Eno’s Orders:

Three days later…..

I sat at my table polishing my blade as Eno sat beside me, “Kalin, we had a hard time these past few days, thanks a lot for saving me but now it’s time for your new orders” Said Eno. I was happy to be back at home again “Well, there is someone important coming into Vvardenfel soon” Explained Eno. I gave him my attention as I continued to listen “soon” Explained Eno. I gave him my attention as I continued to listen “You may already know that the Emperor is coming to Ebonheart to discuss something important with the Duke and we have inside information that it is regarding the Dark Brotherhood and some plans are going to be delivered as well” Explained Eno.

Well, that wasn’t the sort of thing I expected, I turned for a second to look at my armour cabinet and my newest addition was High Ordinators armour. “Well, Eno I must do it” I replied “Well we have several people on the inside, one is posing as a bodyguard, and one is a priest because the emperor always has them around and finally we have someone posing as the royal advisor” Explained Eno, I was quite surprised they could get anybody on the inside. “Well we sure have the thing covered” “Yes, but we need somebody to kill the Emperor” Said Eno as his voice went very serious “Me, you seriously want me to do that” How could he expect me to do that I can’t do something as bad as that “Yes” Said Eno.

“Due to what has just happened as well we are delayed and the Emperor is arriving tonight” Said Eno, I thought my life was over I can’t do that it would never work I would get caught and killed. I started to stress out and I dropped my sword “Ok, but I will need preparation time” I said. “Well I must go anyway because I am posing as the royal advisor” Said Eno, “Well then, I must prepare I will be at Ebonheart when?” I asked “Sundown”. Eno then left with a teleportation spell with a flash of light “Goodbye” he said.

I looked around my house and knew that this was reckoning for me, I couldn’t do this but I had to. I walk over to my armour cabinet and grab my black robes from the bottom shelf and put them on, “Hmm, it’s about four hours until sundown, not good” I then walk up my stairs into my bedroom and to my weapon cabinet, my hand clutches the handle and open it up. I see my most prized dagger “Deaths Claw” is what it’s called, I took it and my bow and quiver of arrows. I fit my bow on my back along with the quiver, they sat nicely and my dagger in my hand. I am ready just about, now all I need is a few scrolls but I remember now that I must have lost them. This will be risky but I must do what I am told.

I then walk down my stairs ignoring everything because I am so nervous, I walk out the front door and realize, I must have spent at least three hours getting ready. Well then I must leave with a spell, “Astrus Ebonus”. A purple light consumed me and I next saw the great gate that lead to Ebonheart. “Perfect” the sun was just going down now and darkness was consuming me all the best. I snuck up to the wall and clambered up the wall, it was difficult but I did do it. I stood on the wall as the wind blew my hair so I pulled my hood up over my head. I then glanced over to the docks and there was a giant royal ship with some men onboard. They were the guards and the emperor was already making his way to the grand council chambers. I followed the wall to the nearest roof that overlooked the great bridge to the Grand council chambers, the Emperor made his way to the walk way when the Duke emerged from the Grand council chambers accompanied by many men, one of them was Eno.

I could see them talking and they were surrounded by many guards, priests and advisors. Now was my chance.

Chapter five: The final moments

Now was it I needed to do it now, so I jumped off the building and landed just next to the stairs to the bridge, the ground was stone and as I climbed the stairs onto the bridge my heart pounded, I ran with my dagger in my hand, I pushed through some guards there armour was quite cold, I pushed my way through the crowd and there I was everyone was looking at me and so was the Emperor “Who are you” Exclaimed the Emperor. My heart pounding I continue to run and stab the Emperor and slit his throat “Ughh” the Emperor collapsed on the floor but I didn’t take much notice and I ran to the Duke also slitting throat, then I fell a stab “Ugh” everything went black.

I sit watching Kalin in the bed, he is still not moving, after he got stabbed we had to teleport him out of there quickly, but he isn’t moving after the third day. Wait what’s that, all I can do know I cast this healing spell and he starts breathing…
